Our next meeting is n Monday 12th October, to be held as usual at 2pm at the Oasis Christian Centre on the corner of Plymouth Road near Redditch Bus and Train Stations.
Our speaker will be Chris Jackson, a member of the Society, a postal and local historian and stalwart of the Redditch Philatelic Society.
Chris will begin his presentation with a short introduction to British Postal History, starting in 1635 with the ‘King’s Post’ of James the First, and will continue with the Postal History of Redditch from 1795 to 1998. By way of illustration Chris will delve into his extensive archive and present a collection of letters and postmarks to show the development and changes that have occurred in the local Postal System over two hundred years. This will be a very interesting and comprehensive talk by an expert in the field of Redditch Postal History and should not be missed.
The Redditch History Society meets from 2-4pm on the second Monday afternoon of each month. Non-members are always welcome, for a £4 entrance fee, and refreshments are available after the talk for just 50 pence per person.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Kind Regards,
Anthony Green
Secretary, Redditch History Society.
